What do pupils think of School Trips? Here are some arguments for and against them from 7 and 8 year old points of view. The authors read their arguments after studying Persuasive Writing.

Minecraft Gets Old!

by Jake

Once upon a time there lived a  boy called Jake who was obsessed with Minecraft. He loved how there was TNT, Blocks and Players and so much more. He played Creative  and Survival. He made houses and farms but what he didn't know was… it was about to come to an end. (You know parents trying to get their children off devices?)

But one day the Mums and Dads got so angry that  they  built a robot. That robot scanned the whole world for children on devices but the kids didn’t like this so there was a war between kids and adults.  After a few hours kids won.

They played Minecraft for days, months, years but one day a kid became an adult. Then this happened more and more and more but Minecraft didn’t stop. It went on… …  …………..
………….....because adults are just secretly older kids!

Persuasive Writing

Can we convince you to agree with us? We're good at pleading the case orally when we want something from our parents. Now we're using those skills to write a persuasive argument.

                                     Bad Mrs Pig

Some people think Mrs Pig was not a good parent. I think Mrs Pig was no good. What do you think?

Firstly, because she knew there was an angry wolf outside in the wild so why let them out?

Mrs Pig knew the three little pigs would not be safe. They were not that smart. For example two pigs didn’t make their houses very stable!

Mrs Pig: Good or Bad?

I think Mrs Pig is a good parent.

Firstly, Mrs Pig did warn the three little pigs about the big bad wolf.

Secondly she was nice to let them have freedom.

Lastly they were at the right age to be away from their mother.

That's my opinion and I hope you agree with me.

Mrs Pig: Good or Bad?

I think that Mrs Pig is not a good parent.

My reason is she could train them just for a few weeks until they get the idea of how to make a meal or put together bricks to build a house. Then they wouldn't have to go like, "This goes here. No,no. This goes here. No,no.
here. No, no.This goes here. No, no. This goes here."Mrs Pig could send the oldest pig out. Then, if the first pig that went out said he went well building the house, she would send the other two out to build houses. Sometimes their mum, if she is not busy, she can visit them at their house.

Or Mrs Pig could train them and let the pig that did the best building go out first and in a few weeks she can visit  him and train the other pigs for a few more days.

So I hope you agree with me that Mrs Pig could train the pigs before they go out to the world. Then she would be a good mum.

Did You Ever?
Do kayaking
At the Millenium Centre?
Heart pumping,
Sideways rocking,
Splash out of the kayak!
Thump! Into someone.
It is cool!

Did You Ever?
Go kayaking
 At the Millenium Centre?
Paddles dripping,
Water splashing,
Boat floating,
Arms swinging side to side.
Give it a go!
It’s fun!

Did You Ever?

Go to kayaking
 At the Millenium Pool?
Arms waving,
Hands rocking,
Rock and rock,
 Off the kayak,
Under water.
Go and have a try!
